Bhaktapur Hospital Named Best in Nepal

 Bhaktapur, June 2 – Bhaktapur Hospital has once again been recognized as the best hospital in Nepal, earning the top spot in a nationwide assessment of minimum service standards. The announcement was made during a special event held at the hospital on Sunday.


The 121-year-old hospital scored 90 out of 100 points, placing it first among all hospitals in the country. This is the fourth consecutive year Bhaktapur Hospital has achieved this distinction.


At the event, Bagmati Province's Health Minister Kiran Thapa praised the hospital's consistent performance and urged the staff to continue working with dedication to maintain service quality. He also announced that the government has allocated NPR 10 million to launch neuro services at the hospital. Dialysis services are expected to begin within a month, and funding has been earmarked for renovating the hospital’s old building in the upcoming fiscal year.


Dr. Sumitra Gautam, Health Secretary of Bagmati Province, emphasized that Bhaktapur Hospital’s success shows what can be achieved through committed staff, effective management, and protection from outside interference. She noted that the hospital’s long history and dedication to improvement have made it a model for others.


According to the evaluation, Lumbini Provincial Hospital ranked second with 89 points, and Bharatpur Hospital came in third with 88 points. Among the 13 hospitals in Bagmati Province, Dhading Hospital secured second place with 82 points, while Trishuli Hospital followed with 81 points.


Dr. Phanindra Prasad Baral from Bir Hospital, a member of the evaluation team, provided the rankings.


Bhaktapur Hospital Director Surendra Prasad Bhatta shared that the hospital has seen an increase in the number of patients seeking outpatient, inpatient, surgical, and maternity care compared to previous years, reflecting growing public trust in its services.
