Devotees start arriving for the special Gosainkunda festival.
Rasuwa, May 25
Devotees have started arriving in Gosainkunda ahead of a special religious fair that begins on May 27. The fair will continue until June 7, which falls on Ekadashi, according to the Gosainkunda Area Development Committee.
Around 5,000 people are expected to attend the fair and take a ritual bath in the sacred Gosainkunda pond, located 4,380 meters above sea level. To reach Gosainkunda, visitors typically travel to Dhunche, the headquarters of Rasuwa district, and then follow the route through Tiwari Bagar, Khanti, Deurali, Dimsa, and Cholangpati.
Nepal Police reported that over 250 devotees, who were part of the Patanjali Yoga Committee for the Ganga Dussehra festival, have already begun their journey to Gosainkunda this morning.
Gosainkunda is considered a highly sacred pilgrimage site in Hinduism, with many believing it's a place that should be visited at least once in a lifetime. A special fair is held here for 10 days during Ganga Dussehra and for 5 days during Janai Poornima.
