Four killed in Baglung jeep accident

 Kathmandu, June 14 – The death toll from a jeep accident in Astu Batasedanda, Dhorpatan Municipality-5, Baglung, has reached four. The accident occurred on Friday evening around 5:45 PM when a jeep (Lu Pra 01001 Cha 1775) heading from Burtibang Bazaar to Chaur skidded off the road and fell about 60 meters down a slope.

Two passengers — 70-year-old Nar Bahadur Karki and 75-year-old Bhim Kumari Budha of Dhorpatan-2 — died at the scene. Another passenger, 21-year-old Tika Kumari Kunwar, died while being taken to Pokhara after receiving initial treatment at Burtibang Provincial Hospital. Man Kumari Thapa, 75, passed away on Saturday morning during treatment at Manipal Hospital in Pokhara.

Twelve others were injured in the accident. They include:

  • Indra Kunwar (23)

  • Nirmaya Khatri (29)

  • Devi Pariyar (38)

  • Durgi Darji (53)

  • Anju Pariyar (12)

  • Biyano Budha Magar (8)

  • Binay Budha (5)

  • Dalli BK (35)

  • Shishir Karki (11)

  • Tanmaya Kunwar (30)

All the victims are from different wards of Dhorpatan Municipality. The injured are currently being treated at Manipal Hospital in Pokhara and Mission Hospital in Palpa.
