KATHMANDU, June 19 – The International Relations and Global Diplomacy Dialogue (IRGDD) and the Federation of Handicraft Associations of Nepal (FHAN) have signed an agreement to work together in promoting Nepal’s traditional handicrafts on a global scale.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on Tuesday in Kathmandu by IRGDD President Amb. Dr. Sarmila Parajuli Dhakal and FHAN President Rabindra Shakya during a special ceremony.

This partnership aims to support Nepali artisans, encourage research and dialogue on policy, and improve the global reach and competitiveness of Nepal’s handicrafts. Both organizations emphasized the power of diplomacy, innovation, and collaboration in uplifting the country’s handicraft sector and strengthening Nepal’s image abroad.

"This agreement opens the door for meaningful collaboration. IRGDD is committed to supporting initiatives like this to promote Nepali products and raise Nepal's profile globally," said Dr. Dhakal. She added that this partnership will also help advance Nepal’s soft diplomacy.

FHAN President Shakya added, "This collaboration benefits not just our handicraft industry but the entire nation. We're focusing on international markets, especially in developing countries, while also empowering women and youth in line with national goals."

The partnership will focus on five main areas: promoting Nepali products, advancing education and research, improving product quality and development, building business and market connections, and supporting policy and advocacy efforts.

Under the agreement, FHAN will lead in maintaining product quality and authenticity, while IRGDD will focus on global outreach and diplomacy to boost Nepal's international visibility.
