Muktinath area to be developed as a religious tourism destination

Mustang, May 5 — Stakeholders have emphasized the importance of developing the Muktinath area into a full-fledged religious tourism destination. Chief District Officer Bishnu Prasad Bhusal said efforts would be made to encourage tourists to spend more time in the area.

On Saturday, an 11-member team led by CDO Bhusal visited Muktinath to identify ways to promote religious tourism. He suggested that a new trekking route, around four kilometers long, should be built to connect the Muktinath temple with three other nearby religious sites.

Bhusal said the Muktinath Development Committee, together with local residents, would move forward with the construction of the route. The team also conducted a preliminary feasibility study to explore opportunities to link lesser-known religious heritage sites with tourism.
