National Assembly Approves Customs Bill 2080 BS
Kathmandu, June 9 — The National Assembly on Monday unanimously passed the Customs Bill, 2080 BS. The bill was presented by Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel, who said it aims to fix problems in the customs system and boost government revenue.
"This bill will help stop revenue leaks, make customs more transparent, and support international trade," Paudel said during the discussion.
Several lawmakers — including Gopi Bahadur Sarki Achhami, Bhagawati Neupane, Dr. Beduram Bhusal, Tulasa Kumari Dahal, Maya Prasad Sharma, and Gopal Bhattarai — joined the debate.
Assembly Chairperson Narayan Prasad Dahal informed members that they can submit amendment proposals to the Bills Section.
Earlier in the session, Tulasa Kumari Dahal, Chair of the Legislative Management Committee, presented the committee’s report on the Constitutional Council Amendment Bill, 2079. A message from the House of Representatives on the Water Resources Bill, 2081, was also presented by National Assembly Secretary Dr. Surendra Aryal.
