NEPSE drops almost 25 points, market ends the day sharply lower.


Kathmandu, June 19 — The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index dropped by 24.76 points, or about 0.93%, on Thursday, closing at 2,628.91 points. The market was mostly negative throughout the day, with every sector ending lower. The trading sector was hit the hardest, falling by 2.47%.

The Sensitive Index, which tracks top companies, fell by 0.66%, and the Float Index, showing actively traded shares, dropped by 0.79%.

Today, shares worth Rs 11.23 billion were traded, with over 29 million shares from 314 companies changing hands in more than 121,000 transactions. Among these, only 47 stocks went up, while 201 declined, showing overall market weakness.

Two companies, Pure Energy Limited and Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Company, saw their share prices fall by the maximum allowed limit of 10%.

By the end of the day, the total value of all listed companies (market capitalization) was Rs 4.379 trillion.
