PM Oli Urges Global Unity to Close Development Funding Gap

Kathmandu, June 30 – Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who is currently in Spain for the United Nations' Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FFD4), took part in a special roundtable organized by the Gates Foundation on Monday.

The event focused on launching an independent commission to shape the future of development aid. During the discussion, Prime Minister Oli said such commissions can help close the funding gap that developing and smaller countries face. He stressed the importance of united, coordinated global efforts to tackle this challenge and strengthen international cooperation.

"I'm glad to see progress in setting up this commission," Oli said. "It can help balance funding priorities and improve support for both social and economic development."

He also called for stronger global commitment to economic sustainability, urging countries to take into account climate change, disaster risks, and the broader global economy—aligned with the Paris Agreement's goals.

Oli was joined at the event by his Chief Advisor Bishnu Rimal and other senior officials.
