Provincial lawmaker Deepak Manange has been removed from his position.
Kathmandu, June 19
Provincial Assembly Member Rajiv Gurung, better known as Deepak Manange, has been removed from office after being found guilty of attempted murder for attacking someone with a sword.
The Supreme Court’s Constitutional Bench ruled that Gurung misled authorities by providing false information to become a lawmaker, even though he had previously been declared ineligible to run for office.
Although the petition had asked for his removal to be applied from the start of his term, the court decided his dismissal would take effect from the date of the verdict, issued on Wednesday.
