Nepal is celebrating Republic Day today, marking the historic shift to a federal democratic republic on Jestha 15, 2065 BS (May 28, 2008), which officially ended the monarchy.
To mark the occasion, the government held a special ceremony at Tundikhel in Kathmandu. The event included a flower drop by army helicopters, a parade by security forces, and the release of doves as a symbol of peace.
President Ramchandra Paudel, Vice President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, and other top officials attended the ceremony.
Republic Day is being celebrated not only across Nepal but also by Nepali communities around the world, who are organizing various events in its honor.
The country observes Republic Day every year on Jestha 15 to remember the important transition to a republican form of government.
