Seven cases of malaria were reported in Chitwan over the past year.

 Chitwan, June 20

Seven malaria cases have been confirmed in Chitwan district so far this fiscal year. The infections were found among 7,989 people who visited the District Public Health Office with suspected symptoms.

According to Vector Control Inspector Ram KC, all the infected individuals had recently returned from foreign employment. Last year, 10 malaria cases were reported in the district. The disease mostly affects people over the age of 15.

Malaria is spread through the bite of an infected female Anopheles mosquito. Common symptoms include fever, headache, vomiting, and fatigue. KC emphasized the importance of keeping surroundings clean and using mosquito nets while sleeping to prevent mosquito bites.
