Shark Tank Nepal will start airing on Himalaya TV from July 2.
The panel of investors, or "sharks," for the first season includes some of Nepal’s top business leaders: Hem Raj Dhakal (IME Group), Cabinet Shrestha (Agni Group), Ritu Singh Vaidya (Vaidya’s Organization), Anand Bagaria (Nimbus Group), and Saurabh Jyoti (Padma Jyoti Group).
Originally created in Japan in 2001 under the name Money Tigers, the show has become one of the most popular business reality series worldwide. The Nepal version is the 54th international adaptation of the Shark Tank franchise, distributed globally by Sony Pictures Television.
Directed by Simos Sunuwar, the Nepali edition will feature 100 entrepreneurs pitching their business ideas over the course of 20 episodes, with five entrepreneurs appearing in each episode. Filming for the season is already complete.
The sharks are expected to invest a combined total of Rs 350 to 400 million in promising businesses.
Himalaya TV has a history of adapting international reality shows for the Nepali audience, including The Voice of Nepal, Voice Kids, and Himalaya Roadies. The channel also plans to launch Nepal’s Next Top Model, a fashion reality show, later this year.
