The Election Commission will hold a by-election in Rupandehi on November 3.

KATHMANDU, JUNE 30 — The Election Commission (EC) has announced that a by-election will be held in Rupandehi Constituency No. 3 on November 3. This election is to fill the seat left vacant after the death of Dipak Bohara, a member of the House of Representatives, who passed away on April 1. Bohara was elected from Rupandehi-3 in the 2022 general elections, beating his nearest competitor, Bal Krishna Khand from the Nepali Congress.

The EC said the by-election is being held following the rules in the Constitution of Nepal, which say that if a parliamentary seat becomes vacant with more than six months left in the term, it must be filled through a by-election using the same voting system as the original election.

The Election Commission also announced that voter registration will be paused starting July 1 until further notice, due to the upcoming by-election.
