Two national records were broken during the Central President Running Shield Competition, showcasing some impressive performances by young athletes. Prabin Rana Magar set a new record in the junior boys’ 100-meter race, while Sangita BK set a new record in the junior girls’ 400-meter event. Their standout achievements added excitement to the multi-event competition held at Dasharath Stadium.
KATHMANDU, JUNE 11 – Two national records were broken during the 15th Central President Running Shield Competition at Dasharath Stadium in Tripureshwor.
Prabin Rana Magar from Bagmati Province set a new national record in the junior boys’ 100-meter race, finishing in 10.76 seconds and beating the previous record of 10.90 seconds set by Ashish Chaudhary.
In the junior girls’ 400-meter race, Sangita BK from Sudurpaschim Province also made history by completing the race in 1 minute 1.19 seconds, breaking Aruna Rija’s earlier record of 1 minute 1.30 seconds.
Both athletes were awarded cash prizes of Rs 10,000 each by the National Sports Council.
The competition, organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, includes multiple events with athletes competing for a total of 26 gold medals.
