Kathmandu, June 13 – The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecast partly to generally cloudy weather across the country today, with chances of light to moderate rain along with thunder and lightning in many areas.
Rain is likely in several parts of Koshi and Bagmati provinces, especially in hilly regions. Heavy rainfall is expected in one or two places in Koshi Province. High hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, as well as some isolated high-altitude areas elsewhere, may also experience light rain or snowfall.
Throughout the day, light to moderate showers are likely in many areas of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, and in some areas of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is possible in parts of Koshi, and at a few spots in Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim.
In the Kathmandu Valley, skies will remain partly to generally cloudy, with brief rain or thunderstorms expected in the afternoon and continuing into the night. There's about a 40% chance of rain during both time periods.
Currently, monsoon winds are active over Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and eastern Lumbini provinces, while westerly and local winds are influencing weather conditions in western Nepal.
