11 people killed by wild animals in Chitwan over the past year

Wild animal attacks in Chitwan National Park killed 11 people in the fiscal year 2024/25, officials said. Out of these, eight deaths were caused by rhinos, two by elephants, and one by a tiger, according to Abinash Thapa Magar, the park’s information officer. Most of the victims were inside the park collecting green fodder, firewood, or fiddlehead ferns (niguro).
In the same year, 41 people were injured in similar attacks—32 seriously and 9 with minor injuries.
Over the past five years, wild animal attacks in the park have claimed 73 lives and injured 169 people.
