133 kg of marijuana found in abandoned red Brezza in Rautahat

 Rautahat, July 22

Police in Rautahat have seized 133 kilograms of marijuana from an abandoned car near Jhajh Bridge in Garuda Municipality on Tuesday morning.

According to the Area Police Office in Garuda, the incident happened around 8:30 AM during a routine traffic check near the Survey Office in Garuda Municipality-4, along the Gaur–Chandrapur road. A red Brezza car (Ba. 3 Cha 6896), heading from Chandrapur to Tawa, tried to speed away upon seeing the police, triggering a chase.

The vehicle was later found abandoned about 10 feet off the road in a grassy area west of Jhajh Bridge. The driver had fled the scene, police confirmed.

Inside the trunk, police discovered 13 plastic-wrapped bundles containing what appeared to be marijuana, weighing a total of 133 kilograms, said DSP Rajan Karki of the Area Police Office, Garuda.

“We had received a tip-off and coordinated with the traffic team to set up the checkpoint,” said DSP Karki. “As soon as the driver noticed us, he sped off, ditched the car in the bushes, and escaped through nearby sugarcane fields. We're actively searching for him and expect to catch him soon.”

Police have impounded the vehicle and are continuing their investigation.
