35 new COVID-19 cases reported in the past week
KATHMANDU, July 4 – Thirty-five new COVID-19 cases were reported across Nepal in the past week, with three more confirmed in the last 24 hours. According to the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division, the virus has been detected in 31 districts since December, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 249 and one reported death.
In response to the rising number of infections, the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) has increased surveillance efforts by setting up health screening desks at 17 border checkpoints across the country. These checkpoints are using Rapid Diagnostic Tests (RDTs) to screen incoming travelers, said MoHP spokesperson Dr. Prakash Budathoki.
The Ministry has also urged the public to follow basic health precautions—such as wearing masks, washing hands regularly, using hand sanitizer, and maintaining good hygiene—to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses.
People arriving from areas with active COVID-19 outbreaks or showing symptoms have been advised to self-quarantine or isolate themselves as a safety measure.
