Continuous rainfall has caused floods and landslides, leading to major highway blockages across the country. Several key road sections are either fully or partially blocked, causing serious disruption to travel and transportation.

 Kathmandu, July 20 — Several major highways across Nepal have been blocked due to continuous rainfall, flooding, and landslides, according to a midday update from Nepal Police. The disruptions have affected multiple provinces, causing serious transportation problems.

Kathmandu Valley

  • Kathmandu: Only one-way traffic is allowed on the Kathmandu–Nuwakot road in Tokha Municipality-2 due to ongoing rain.

Koshi Province

  • Sankhuwasabha: The Koshi Highway is completely blocked at Barun, Bhotkhola Rural Municipality-4 because of rain.

  • Panchthar:

    • Mechi Highway is blocked by floods in Hewa Khola, affecting Hilihang Rural Municipality-7 and Phidim Municipality-9.

    • Tamor Corridor is blocked at Tumbewa Rural Municipality-2 due to a landslide.

    • Mid-Hill Highway is blocked at Rijal Cliff (Yangwarak-3) and Dobhan (Yangwarak-2) due to landslides and floods.

Bagmati Province

  • Rasuwa: Pasang Lhamu Highway is fully blocked in the Rasuwa area, including the Miteri Bridge at the Nepal–China border in Gosaikunda-2, due to flooding.

Gandaki Province

  • Baglung:

    • One-way traffic is running at Dablyang (Baglung-10) on the Kaligandaki Corridor due to a landslide.

    • One-way traffic is also operating at Kause (Galkot-11) on the Mid-Hill Highway.

    • The Dablyang section was fully blocked again later in the morning.

  • Mustang: The Jomsom–Lomanthang road is blocked at Chhursang and Tangbre in Baragung Muktikshetra-3 due to landslides.

  • Nawalpur (East): One-way traffic is running at Tarangkhola in Gaindakot-3 on the Kaligandaki Corridor due to flooding.

Lumbini Province

  • Rolpa:

    • One-way traffic is allowed in Paribartan-4 on Shahid Highway due to a landslide.

    • Full blockage is reported in Wards 1 and 2 of Thabang Rural Municipality on the same highway due to a landslide.

Karnali Province

  • Rukum West: The Jajarkot–Dolpa Bheri Corridor is completely blocked at Rijigar in Aathbiskot-6 due to flooding.

Sudurpaschim Province

  • Baitadi: Mahakali Highway is fully blocked at Dasharath Chand-8 due to a landslide.

Authorities are urging people to avoid unnecessary travel in affected areas and to remain cautious, as the weather remains unstable. Road-clearing operations are currently underway in several locations.
