Don’t Make Assumptions About the Government, Says Home Minister Lekhak
Kathmandu, July 9 — Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has urged the public and lawmakers not to make baseless comments about the government without having accurate and complete information. Speaking during today’s meeting of the House of Representatives, he said that criticism based on speculation and imagination is not helpful.
He explained that whenever the Prime Minister travels abroad, the Council of Ministers officially approves the list of delegates accompanying him. “If someone from the delegation doesn’t return, it would help if their names were made public,” he said, adding that false rumors had been spread about the Prime Minister’s recent trip to Spain.
The Minister emphasized that concerns raised both inside and outside Parliament should be based on verified facts. Referring to an example, he said, “I’ve heard that suspended MP Rabi Lamichhane once traveled to the U.S. on a visit visa. A visit visa means traveling as a tourist. Can someone confirm whether he actually went on a visit visa?”
On a separate issue, Lekhak dismissed rumors that the government was misusing security agencies by giving protection to former MPs, ministers, or others who no longer qualify. He said such claims are simply not true.
