DPM Singh urges to stop Chure encroachment

Dhanusha, July 23

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Urban Development, Prakash Man Singh, has said that conserving the Chure region won’t be possible unless encroachment is stopped. Speaking at a press meet organized by the Nepali Congress (NC) Dhanusha District Executive Office on Wednesday, he blamed the growing water crisis in the Terai/Madhes region on the exploitation and encroachment of the Chure hills.

He said the government is taking the water problem in Madhes seriously and will soon make a major decision to address it.

During the press meet, Singh also warned that unhealthy competition within the Nepali Congress weakens the party and benefits no one. As a former General Secretary of the party, he emphasized the importance of unity, cooperation, and coordination to strengthen the NC.

He further said that if the party weakens, the progress made so far—especially in building a federal democratic republic—could be at risk.

Local government leaders present at the event thanked the Minister for providing the largest-ever budget allocation to local levels this year.
