Flights to Taplejung Restart After Three-Week Break

KATHMANDU, JULY 7 – Flights to and from Taplejung have resumed after being suspended for three weeks due to bad weather. Services were halted on June 13 because of poor visibility and heavy monsoon rains.

Nepal Airlines restarted operations today with a flight from Kathmandu to Taplejung carrying four passengers, and five people took the return flight back to the capital.

Narayan Kumar Karki, the Nepal Airlines station in-charge in Taplejung, said that six flights were cancelled during the suspension. He explained that the disruptions were caused by the unpredictable weather brought on by the monsoon.

Currently, Nepal Airlines operates two flights a week on the Kathmandu–Taplejung–Kathmandu route, on Mondays and Fridays. The fare from Taplejung to Kathmandu is set at Rs 9,200 per person.
