Former President Bhandari gives up state benefits, keeps personal security
Kathmandu, July 2 – Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari has given up all government-provided benefits, except for personal security, starting Wednesday. Until now, she had been receiving facilities like transportation and communication services as a former Head of State.
Her secretariat officially informed the Ministry of Home Affairs about the decision through a letter.
After completing her term as president, she had been using the benefits allowed for former presidents. However, just a few days ago, during a program in Kathmandu held in memory of her late husband, Madan Bhandari, she announced her return to active politics by renewing her membership in the CPN-UML.
