‘Kailash Kora’ book shares the spiritual journey to Kailash Mansarovar

 Kathmandu, July 22

A new travel memoir titled Kailash Kora has been released, offering a detailed and heartfelt account of the spiritual and physical journey to Mount Kailash and Mansarovar — sacred sites for Hindus, Buddhists, Jains, and Bon followers. Written by travel writer Rajendraman Dangol, the book has been published by Publication Nepalaya.

With more and more pilgrims from and through Nepal taking part in the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, Kailash Kora aims to answer common questions about the pilgrimage — such as the best routes to take and what travelers can expect — through vivid storytelling and practical guidance.

“I’ve tried to capture both the spiritual essence and the geographical reality of the four major rivers—Brahmaputra, Sutlej, Indus, and Karnali—through my words and images,” said Dangol. He added that the book is the result of his two-week pilgrimage last year, during which he aimed to document the full experience of this deeply respected journey.

Jyoti Adhikari, who has been organizing Kailash Mansarovar tours from Nepal since 1992, noted that the pilgrimage has also attracted many well-known names in Nepali literature and music, such as writer Narayan Wagle and singer Amrit Gurung. “Their journeys highlighted the deep significance of Kailash. Likewise, this book captures that spiritual importance in a beautiful and meaningful way,” he said, adding that Dangol’s writing goes beyond facts to express the emotional and spiritual impact of the experience.

Rajendraman Dangol is a recognized name in Nepali travel writing. He has written three travel books so far, including Kanchanjunga Lai Niyalda, which is part of Nepal’s Grade 9 curriculum. He was also shortlisted for the Padmashree Literary Award.

The 158-page book features 11 chapters, along with route maps for different Kailash Yatra paths. It is priced at Rs 395 and is available worldwide through Amazon, as well as in both print and e-book formats on Thuprai.com.
