MCC cleared to resume projects in Nepal

Kathmandu, July 28 — The Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), a U.S. government international development agency, has been cleared to resume its projects in Nepal.

According to the Ministry of Finance, the Government of Nepal received a letter on July 24 confirming the continuation of MCC-funded projects. These projects were temporarily suspended following an executive order issued by the U.S. President on January 20, 2025.

However, the suspension was lifted on July 24 after a review, the ministry confirmed.

The MCC projects in Nepal focus mainly on expanding key infrastructure such as transportation and energy—both considered crucial for the country’s development.
