Narayangadh-Butwal road project 69% complete with deadline approaching

Kathmandu, July 2 – The Narayangadh-Butwal road expansion project is only 69% complete, with its third extended deadline set to expire on July 24. Despite the slow progress, the contractor—China State Construction Corporation Pvt. Ltd.—has now requested a fourth extension, this time for another year, according to Project Information Officer Shiva Khanal.

Amid the delays, there’s some good news for commuters. A newly built bridge over the Binayi River in Dumkibas is expected to open within the next few days, which should ease traffic problems caused by frequent monsoon-related road washouts.

Khanal said the next focus will be on improving traffic flow along the Daunne section. For now, only basic maintenance is being done to keep vehicles moving, while construction work like culvert installation remains paused.

The repeated delays in finishing this vital highway project have continued to inconvenience thousands of travelers on the busy route.
