Nepal bags three gold medals at Karma Fight League in Colombo
Kathmandu, July 29 — Nepal achieved a major victory at the Karma Fight League, South Asia’s largest K1 championship, held in Colombo, Sri Lanka, on July 25.
Of the five Nepali fighters who competed, three brought home gold medals. Representing Nepal were four members of the Rage Fight Team — Arjun KC, Santosh Khatri, Koshish Shrestha, and Yugeen Sharma — along with Sushmita Thapa from the Sak Yant Club in Pokhara.
Gold medals were claimed by Arjun KC, Sushmita Thapa, and Koshish Shrestha in their respective weight categories. The highlight of the event was a thrilling 70kg match between Nepal’s Koshish Shrestha and India’s Shoeb Ali, where Shrestha emerged victorious to the cheers of an enthusiastic crowd, adding another international title to his record.
The Karma Fight League, established in 2023 and approved by the All Fight System Organisation, has quickly gained recognition for upholding global standards and offering a competitive platform for top national and international K1 athletes.
The Rage Fight Team, a major force in Nepal’s combat sports scene, has spent the past 15 years training fighters in mixed martial arts and K1. K1, known for combining techniques from karate, kickboxing, and kung-fu, is one of the most demanding and respected martial arts formats in the world—and its popularity is growing rapidly.
