Nhyoo Bajracharya brings music and memories to Paleti stage
KATHMANDU, July 27 – Renowned composer and musician Nhyoo Bajracharya took center stage at this month’s Paleti session held at Nepalaya’s ‘r’ Sala on Friday and Saturday, delivering a heartfelt and memorable performance.
Seated with his guitar, Bajracharya opened the evening with a deeply personal touch, performing his compositions while sharing stories and reflections from his musical journey. His first song, Na Aau Sapanabhari, originally sung by the late Lasmit Rai, brought back a wave of nostalgia as he performed it in his own voice—moving the audience with emotion.
In the second half of the event, singer Banika Pradhan took the spotlight. Her soulful version of Yo Man Ta Talaau Ho, a classic made famous by Aruna Lama, captivated the audience. She continued with songs like Timi Bahek, Khata Basechha, Ae Aina, and Chhaayechha Basanta, all set to Bajracharya’s melodies and written by well-known poets and lyricists such as Durgalal Shrestha, Basanta Chaudhary, Manju Lama, Bhushan Kharel, Madan Krishna Shrestha, Gopal Pyakurel, Kshetrapratap Adhikari, and Suresh Sthapit.
Bajracharya also performed songs with lyrics he wrote himself, making the night even more personal and powerful.
“Nhyoo’s music is always beautiful, but it was his humor and warmth that truly made this evening special,” said poet and lyricist Biplab Pratik, who hosted the event.
At the end of the session, Paleti coordinator Abhas announced that the next edition, set for the last Friday and Saturday of August, will feature veteran composer and singer Ramkrishna Duwal. Duwal is a respected figure in both Nepali and Nepal Bhasa music and has contributed to the music scene for decades.
