Ongoing rainfall has caused a landslide, blocking traffic on the Araniko Highway.

Continuous rainfall has triggered a landslide and mudslide, blocking the Jure section of the Araniko Highway.

According to Rameshwar Karki, Chief of the District Police Office in Sindhupalchok, the highway has been closed since Saturday night after mud slid down from an area that had previously experienced a landslide. Excavators and loaders are being used to clear the debris.

Because of the roadblock, large vehicles and container trucks are stuck on the highway. In addition, an electric pole has fallen in the Jure area, adding to the disruption.

At Mahabhir, part of the road has collapsed, forcing motorcyclists to take risky routes to get through.

The landslide has affected residents near the border areas of Tatopani, Tripura Sundari Rural Municipality, and Bahrabise Municipality. Transport of goods via containers to and from the Tatopani border point has also been brought to a halt.
