PM Oli urges better promotion to bring more tourists to Nepal
Speaking at a national seminar titled "Tourism in Nepal: Status, Challenges, and Prospects", organized by his party's tourism department, Oli said:
“We need to show the world that life isn’t just about making money—it’s about living meaningfully. People need to come and see real mountains with their own eyes. Watching rhinos while riding an elephant brings true joy—so let’s invite the world to experience that in Nepal.”
He also said the government is giving priority to improving tourism infrastructure and encouraged everyone involved to help create a more welcoming environment for tourists.
Oli also stressed the importance of promoting Nepal’s cultural and religious heritage. He said there’s nothing wrong with using digital content to share stories from ancient texts—for example, that Lord Ram was born in Nepal and that Sita passed away here.
“Why can’t we say Nepal is the sacred birthplace of Ram? Vishwamitra taught Valmiki in our Chatara village. Ram and Lakshman released the Ashwamedh horse here. King Dasharatha was from this land. These aren’t things I’m making up—they’re written in our scriptures. Promoting our heritage shouldn’t be a political issue,” he said.
He ended by urging Nepalis to stop depending on foreign aid and instead believe in their own skills and strength.
“We are a country with deep knowledge, fertile land, and hardworking people—why can’t we develop on our own?” he asked, calling for unity and self-reliance to build a stronger nation.
