President Paudel says the government is committed to turning people's frustrations into hope.
Kathmandu, July 25
President Ramchandra Paudel said that the main goal of Nepal’s federal democratic republic is to listen to the people, address their needs, and work toward building a prosperous nation with good governance and economic growth.
Speaking at a program in Kathmandu marking the 251st birth anniversary of national hero Bheemsen Thapa, the President said this system gives us the opportunity to fulfill the responsibilities handed down to us by our ancestors and history. He called on everyone to stay committed to this shared national mission.
Reflecting on Nepal’s difficult past, President Paudel said that although history brought challenges, the country is now on a path toward being more inclusive, open, and progressive — and there’s no reason to feel discouraged.
He honored the sacrifices and vision of national figures who shaped the country, describing Bheemsen Thapa as a towering leader who dedicated his life to protecting Nepal’s sovereignty, unity, and independence. Thapa, he said, played a major role in resisting colonial forces and preserving national pride.
“Nepal remained independent because of Bheemsen Thapa’s patriotism, administrative skills, and long-term vision,” said President Paudel. He also praised Thapa’s lasting contributions in areas like economic development, administration, military strength, and social reform, saying these efforts continue to serve the nation even today.
On this occasion, President Paudel presented the Bheemsen Thapa Award to veteran diplomat Dr. Bhekh Bahadur Thapa.
