Rajkumar Timilsina Arrested in Fake 'Dark File' Audio Scandal
Biratnagar, July 21 – Rajkumar Timilsina, who was convicted for creating a fake audio clip involving a Supreme Court justice, a lawyer, and a media entrepreneur, has been arrested in Itahari after months on the run.
Timilsina had been sentenced to six months in prison by the Supreme Court but had disappeared after the verdict. He was arrested on Sunday in Itahari-5, Pachrukhi, while police were responding to a financial dispute between two women.
According to DSP Laxmi Bhandari of the Area Police Office, Timilsina initially gave a false identity, claiming to be someone named Khadka from Ilam. His real identity was discovered only after officers asked for his ID and questioned him further.
“We’re detaining him based on the Supreme Court’s ruling,” DSP Bhandari said.
Police are now preparing to transfer Timilsina to prison to serve his sentence. He had been in hiding in eastern Nepal since the verdict and told police he had been working as a carpenter in Dhankuta.
The Supreme Court’s full bench had issued the six-month sentence on September 30 last year in connection with the fake audio case.
