Sudurpaschim Chief Minister is preparing to face a vote of confidence.

Kathmandu, July 28 — Sudurpaschim Province Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah will ask for a vote of confidence on Thursday. This comes after the Nagrik Unmukti Party (NUP) left the government because Chief Minister Shah removed Rameshwor Chaudhary, the Minister for Industry, Tourism, Forest, and Environment, who belonged to the NUP.

After the provincial assembly meeting on Monday, the Nepali Congress parliamentary party decided that Chief Minister Shah should hold the vote of confidence in Thursday’s assembly session.

According to the constitution, if a party supporting the government withdraws its support, the Chief Minister must seek a vote of confidence.

Sudurpaschim’s provincial assembly has 52 members, but one is currently suspended. To win the vote, Chief Minister Shah needs at least 27 votes. He currently has 29 supporters: 18 from the Nepali Congress and 11 from the CPN-UML.

The opposition includes 10 members from CPN-MC (excluding the Speaker), 7 from NUP, 3 from CPN (US), 1 from RPP, and 1 independent member.
