UAE Team Meets Minister Gurung, Expresses Interest in Security Printing Partnership
Kathmandu, July 2 – Representatives from the UAE government's Oumolat Security Printing Press met with Nepal’s Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, on Wednesday.
During the meeting at the Ministry, Minister Gurung shared updates on Nepal’s Security Printing Centre. He said that the centre, which had been without leadership for three years, now has a new Executive Director, and printing operations have officially resumed under his leadership.
Gurung also said that the government has set aside Rs 6 billion to print passports, citizenship certificates, and banknotes. He added that smart driving license printing is already underway.
The UAE delegation, made up of general managers from the printing press, showed interest in working with Nepal on printing technology. In response, Gurung welcomed their interest and said that the government would consider any partnership at the right time.
