UML Central Committee Meeting to Continue Tomorrow

KATHMANDU, July 21 – The CPN-UML central committee meeting, chaired by Prime Minister and Party Chairman KP Sharma Oli, began on Sunday at the party headquarters in Chyasal, Lalitpur.

On the first day, 49 central committee members shared their opinions, according to Rajendra Gautam, head of the party’s Publicity Department. Discussions focused on two main documents: the proposed amendment to the party’s statute presented by Vice-Chair Bishnu Prasad Paudel, and an organizational proposal from General Secretary Shankar Pokhrel. Both documents are set to be presented at the upcoming Second Statute General Convention.

The speakers represented Gandaki Province, Madhesh Province, Kathmandu Valley Special Province, and the Liaison Coordination Committee. Most expressed support for the statute amendment, which had already been unanimously approved by both the party’s secretariat and Politburo.

The meeting also addressed the renewal of party membership by former President Bidya Devi Bhandari. Each speaker was given three minutes to speak.

A committee has been formed to compile the views shared during the meeting. It will be coordinated by Politburo member Surya Thapa, with central members Bishnu Rijal and Niraj Acharya assisting.

The meeting will continue tomorrow at 11:00 AM.
