Banking and financial fraud cases rise in Kathmandu

 Kathmandu, August 14

The District Police Range reported a record number of banking and financial fraud cases in the past fiscal year.

According to Chief Bishow Adhikari, a total of 12,915 cases were registered over the year, averaging 35 cases per day. The police noted a rise in crimes such as embezzlement from cooperatives, cybercrime, cheque fraud, and cryptocurrency-related offences.

In addition, the Range recorded 140 murder cases during the same period.
