Body of Indian man found after drowning in Bagmati River
RAUTAHAT, AUGUST 3 — The body of a 30-year-old Indian man who drowned in the Bagmati River was found early Sunday morning in an irrigation canal in Gujara Municipality, authorities said. The man was identified as Rohit Kumar Singh from Pachhaura-2, Khagaria district, Bihar, India.
Police said Singh had gone to bathe in the Bagmati River at Nunthar, Chandrapur Municipality-1, around 2:40 PM on Saturday after drinking alcohol. He drowned soon after entering the water and went missing.
A joint rescue team, including the Armed Police Force and local police, searched for him. His body was recovered at 10:25 AM Sunday near Kurmi Tole, Palttuwa, in Gujara Municipality-7.
After his family identified the body, it was taken to Chandranigahapur Health Office for a post-mortem before being handed over to his relatives, said DSP Deepak Kumar Rai.
