“Dusit Princess Kathmandu holds ‘Thai Mahotsav’ at SOI Restaurant.”

 KATHMANDU, AUGUST 30: Dusit Princess Kathmandu is hosting “Thai Mahotsav,” a three-day cultural and culinary festival at its SOI Restaurant from August 29 to 31, every evening from 6 PM onwards.

The festival brings the flavors and traditions of Thailand to Kathmandu, offering guests a unique experience of authentic Thai cuisine, music, and dance. Visitors can enjoy a specially prepared menu of Thailand’s most famous dishes, alongside live music and traditional Thai performances.

“Thai Mahotsav is more than just a festival—it’s a cultural bridge connecting Thailand and Kathmandu,” said Samir Banerjee, Cluster General Manager of Dusit Princess Kathmandu. “Through food, music, and dance, we aim to give guests a true taste of Thailand’s rich traditions.”

The festival lets visitors enjoy Thailand’s heritage and hospitality without leaving the city, combining authentic cuisine with lively cultural performances for a memorable experience.

KHOTANG, February 28 – The First National Bamboo Conference is currently being held in Diktel Bazaar, running from February 27 to March 1. The event was officially opened at the Khotang Multi-Purpose Covered Hall, and an exhibition showcasing various bamboo products is taking place nearby at the Matikore playground. Gold prices keep going up

  Kathmandu, June 18 — Gold prices have been rising in the international market since June 10, and this has also pushed up prices in Nepal. When the market opened today, the price of gold had gone up by Rs 900 per tola (11.66 grams) compared to Tuesday, while silver rose by Rs 65 per tola. According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association, gold is now being traded at Rs 195,500 per tola, and silver at Rs 2,225 per tola. International reports show that gold is currently priced at 3,393 US dollars per ounce in the global market.

Johannes Zutt Named New World Bank Vice President for South Asia

  June 30, Kathmandu – The World Bank has named Johannes Zutt as its new Vice President for the South Asia Region, replacing Martin Raiser. He will officially take on the role starting July 1, 2025. In this position, Zutt will oversee the World Bank’s work in Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. He will manage a portfolio of projects, financial support, and technical assistance worth $39 billion. Under his leadership, the World Bank aims to continue its focus on key challenges in the region, such as job creation, climate resilience, disaster preparedness, improving human capital, and encouraging private investment.
