Finance Minister Arzu Rana has encouraged foreign investors to explore and invest in the opportunities available in Sudurpaschim Province.

KATHMANDU, AUGUST 29 – Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba has urged investors to explore opportunities in Nepal’s Sudurpaschim Province, highlighting its rich natural resources and cultural heritage. She made the remarks at a meeting held on Friday at the Ministry, ahead of the Sudurpaschim Investment and Development Conference, scheduled for November 17–18 in Dhangadhi.

Dr. Rana described Sudurpaschim as a region of stunning natural beauty and a key gateway to Nepal’s prosperity. She said the province has great potential in areas like hydropower and renewable energy, agriculture, tourism, cross-border trade, urban infrastructure, IT and digital services, mining, and industries based on natural resources. “I encourage both domestic and foreign investors to explore the opportunities here,” she said.

Although the province is rich in water, fertile land, forests, biodiversity, and cultural heritage, Dr. Rana noted that it has remained underdeveloped due to underutilization of these assets. She welcomed the upcoming investment conference as a chance to showcase Sudurpaschim’s potential and attract foreign investment.

She also recalled past development projects, such as road networks connecting the province to Kathmandu, which were carried out under former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba’s leadership. On a broader level, she noted that the government has amended key laws to create a more investment-friendly environment in Nepal.

Highlighting the importance of federalism, Dr. Rana stressed that provinces like Sudurpaschim should actively harness their own resources and develop localized growth models, rather than relying solely on the federal government.
