FM Rana says government is focusing on diplomatic efforts for Bipin Joshi’s safe release

 Kathmandu, August 18

Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba has said the government is actively working through diplomatic channels to secure the release of Bipin Joshi, who is still being held by Hamas.

In a social media post today, she explained that since taking office, she has made this issue a top priority. “From the UN General Assembly to international forums, and in bilateral and multilateral meetings, I have consistently called for Bipin’s release. These efforts are ongoing,” she said.

She highlighted her recent meeting with Qatari Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi, the lead mediator in peace talks, where she urged that Bipin’s case be included in the first phase of hostage negotiations.

Minister Rana assured that the government is leaving no stone unturned in pursuing the matter and thanked the Israeli government, Israeli citizens, the Nepali community in Israel, and the international community for their support. She also shared that Bipin’s mother and sister have traveled to Israel, with the ministry’s coordination and Israeli government’s assistance, to personally appeal for his release.
