Birgunj (Parsa), Aug 29: Nepali Congress General-Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa has stressed the importance of keeping essential medicines and healthcare staff ready at Narayani Hospital to handle the cholera outbreak in Birgunj.

Thapa, a former Health Minister, met with cholera patients and their families at the hospital today and spoke with hospital authorities about ensuring proper treatment. He urged the hospital to provide quality healthcare services free of charge, with enough medicines, vaccines, and trained staff.

He also pledged to coordinate with the Health Ministry and other agencies to ensure the hospital gets the support it needs, including infrastructure development.

Highlighting cleanliness, Thapa said hospitals must maintain not only physical hygiene but also proper management, good governance, and well-organized services. He recalled that during his tenure as Health Minister, improving cleanliness in public hospitals remained a challenge and emphasized its importance for patient trust.

Thapa called on everyone to work together to make Narayani Hospital a centre of hope and trust for Birgunj and surrounding areas.
