Health Minister Paudel says government to make 55 basic hospitals operational

Kathmandu, August 13 – Health Minister Pradip Paudel said the three levels of government are working to make 55 basic hospitals fully operational.

Speaking in the House of Representatives, Minister Paudel explained that programs have been launched to activate other basic hospitals already handed over to local governments. Efforts are underway to deploy doctors and supply medical equipment, and the ministry has fulfilled its commitments on time following proper procedures.

He noted that some hospitals remain non-functional due to pending procedural issues. For example, the basic hospital at Sonari Narainapur–4 in Banke district is fully constructed but has not yet been handed over. Once the handover is complete, the hospital will start operating, he assured.
