Heavy Rains Cause Disruptions on Nine Highways Nationwide

KATHMANDU, AUGUST 30: Continuous monsoon rains have caused landslides and floods, blocking nine major highways and road sections across Nepal, according to Nepal Police. Major routes fully obstructed include the Koshi Highway at Bhotkhola in Sankhuwasabha, the Nepal–China border bridge in Rasuwa, the Pasang Lhamu Highway in Rasuwa, and the Arniko Highway in Sindhupalchowk. Other roads affected include the Kaligandaki Corridor in Baglung, Beni–Darbang road in Myagdi, Jajarkot road in Rukum Paschim, Bheri Corridor in Dolpa, and the Gokuleshwor–Darchula road in Darchula.

While these sections remain closed, partial traffic has resumed on some roads where obstructions were cleared for one-way movement. These include the Mid-Hill Highway in Terhathum, Uttargaya road and parts of the Pasang Lhamu Highway in Rasuwa, stretches of the Prithvi Highway in Tanahu and Dang, the Kaligandaki Corridor in Nawalparasi East, and the Saljhandi–Dhorpatan section in Arghakhanchi.

Authorities are working to clear debris and restore smooth traffic, but ongoing rainfall continues to hamper recovery efforts.
