Indra Bahadur Baniya Takes Oath as Bagmati Province Chief Minister
KATHMANDU, AUGUST 5
Indra Bahadur Baniya has officially taken over as the new Chief Minister of Bagmati Province. He was sworn in today by Province Chief Deepak Prasad Devkota during a ceremony held at the provincial office in Hetauda.
Baniya became Chief Minister under Article 168(2) of the Constitution after submitting the signatures of 64 Provincial Assembly members from the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML on Monday to show majority support.
Sources say that Baniya plans to appoint an eight-member Cabinet later today, with six ministers from the CPN-UML and two from the Nepali Congress.
