MrBeast and Mark Rober launch worldwide #TeamWater campaign to help millions get clean drinking water.
KATHMANDU, AUGUST 3 – Popular YouTubers MrBeast (Jimmy Donaldson) and Mark Rober have teamed up with the global nonprofit WaterAid to launch #TeamWater, a worldwide campaign aimed at providing clean drinking water to 2 million people. The campaign brings together content creators from more than 84 countries, with a combined audience of 2 billion subscribers, and hopes to raise $40 million by August 31.
#TeamWater will fund sustainable solutions like solar-powered wells and gravity-fed pipelines, bringing long-term access to safe water in communities across the globe—from the deserts of Colombia to the mangrove forests of Bangladesh.
“We’ve seen what’s possible when the internet unites for a cause—like planting trees and cleaning the ocean,” said Donaldson and Rober in a joint statement. “Now we’re focusing on clean water, because no one should have to live without it.”
This campaign follows their hugely successful efforts, #TeamTrees and #TeamSeas, which raised over $50 million to plant 20 million trees and remove 30 million pounds of trash from oceans and rivers.
Kelly Parsons, CEO of WaterAid America, said, “By combining the reach of top creators with WaterAid’s decades of clean water expertise, we’re addressing one of the world’s most solvable problems: access to clean water. Every dollar donated will go directly to building sustainable water systems that will benefit people for generations.”
Donations can be made at teamwater.org, and the campaign’s launch video is available on both MrBeast and Mark Rober’s YouTube channels.
As part of the campaign, content creators recently visited Nepal in July, where they helped install clean water systems in the villages of Thulo Padhero, Jaubari, and Gaubari in Godawari Municipality. The project has brought safe water to 71 households and more than 300 people in the area, WaterAid confirmed.
