Parliamentary committee calls Home Minister over Kailali prison clash

 Kathmandu, August 12

A parliamentary committee will review the violent clash at Kailali Prison on Friday night, which left one inmate dead and 48 others injured. The fight between two groups of prisoners resulted in the death of Bharat Chaudhary.

After the clash, inmates held control of the prison for nearly 40 hours before authorities regained order. The Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee has scheduled a meeting at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Singha Durbar to discuss the incident.

Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has been summoned to attend the session, where the committee will consider the incident, its consequences, and possible solutions.
