PM Oli informs parliament about upcoming China visit for SCO Summit

 Kathmandu, Aug 29: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli informed the House of Representatives about his upcoming visit to China from August 30 to September 3. He will participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Tianjin.


PM Oli said the visit aims to strengthen bilateral relations with China and enhance Nepal’s presence in international forums. He will present Nepal’s priorities on regional and global issues at the SCO Summit, which he believes will boost the country’s image and prestige.


The Prime Minister, invited by Chinese President Xi Jinping, will lead a Nepali delegation that includes his spouse Radhika Shakya, former Deputy PM Purna Bahadur Khadka, and several ministers and officials.


During the visit, PM Oli will hold bilateral meetings with leaders including President Xi, Vice-President Han Zheng, Russian President Vladimir Putin, the President of Maldives, and prime ministers from Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam. He will also attend dinners hosted by China’s President and Vice-President and address the ‘SCO Plus’ Summit on September 1.


Nepal has been an SCO dialogue partner since 2016, alongside countries such as Turkey, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Egypt, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Maldives, Myanmar, Bahrain, and the UAE.
