President Paudel: Gaura Festival Strengthens and Preserves Indigenous Culture

Kathmandu, Aug 31: President Ramchandra Paudel has said that the Gaura festival plays an important role in strengthening Nepal’s cultural, religious, and regional bonds, as well as promoting harmony among people.

In his message on the occasion of the festival, President Paudel wished that Gaura continues to preserve and promote Nepal’s unique culture while inspiring mutual understanding, peace, and fraternity among all Nepalis, both at home and abroad, especially in the western region where the festival is widely celebrated.

He emphasized that folk traditions and cultural festivals like Gaura help foster unity in diversity, social solidarity, tolerance, and national cohesion. “Such festivals connect families and communities, preserve our culture, and contribute to spiritual faith as well as the happiness and peace of human life,” he added.

Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav also highlighted Gaura as an occasion for social reunion. He said the festival strengthens relationships among family, relatives, and communities, and noted that the worship of Gauri-Maheshwor during Gaura is a unique symbol of religious faith, cultural heritage, and social unity.

“Celebrated with wishes for good fortune, happiness, peace, and prosperity, this festival is not just a cultural ritual but an expression of fraternity, coexistence, and love for the motherland,” Vice President Yadav said. He added that Nepalis returning from abroad to celebrate the festival show their loyalty and emotional connection to their roots. The festival also serves as a reminder to preserve Nepal’s cultural heritage for future generations.
