West Indies stay calm under pressure to win an exciting T20 match against Pakistan.

LAUDERHILL, AUGUST 3 – Jason Holder delivered a match-winning performance on Saturday, taking four wickets and hitting the final-ball boundary to lead West Indies to a nail-biting two-wicket win over Pakistan in the second T20 match. The win levels the three-match series at 1-1.

Pakistan chose to bat first but struggled, finishing on 133 for 9. Holder bowled brilliantly, taking 4 wickets for just 19 runs in his four overs. Despite a fighting 40 off 23 balls from Hasan Nawaz and 38 from captain Salman Agha, Pakistan's total looked shaky on a tricky pitch in Florida.

West Indies also had a rough time chasing, as Pakistan’s spinners kept things tight and wickets fell regularly. At 70 for 5 in the 14th over, West Indies looked in trouble. But quick cameos from Gudakesh Motie (28 off 20) and Romario Shepherd (15 off 11) kept them in the game.

With 8 runs needed in the final over, Pakistan’s pace ace Shaheen Shah Afridi dismissed Shepherd early, and tight bowling followed. Three runs were still needed off the final delivery after a wide gave West Indies hope. Then Holder, calm under pressure, hit a boundary through backward square leg to seal the win.

This was West Indies’ first T20 win after six straight losses, including a 5-0 series defeat to Australia and a recent Test series whitewash.

“It’s been a tough few weeks,” said West Indies captain Shai Hope. “The team has worked hard, and hopefully today marks a turning point.”

Holder, who was named Player of the Match, acknowledged the team’s recent struggles. “We’ve had fair criticism. We haven’t played to our potential. We need to be more consistent,” he said.

The series decider will be played in Lauderhill on Sunday, followed by an ODI series in the Caribbean.
