Music Review: Justin Bieber Explores Love Further in ‘Swag II’
NEW YORK, September 7 – Justin Bieber is making it clear he’s in full control of his music these days. Just two months after dropping Swag, the 31-year-old has surprised fans with Swag II, his eighth studio album.
The 23-track project serves as a companion to Swag — together they make up a 44-song, two-hour collection. Like its predecessor, Swag II blends alternative R&B and pop with dreamy production, religious themes, and heartfelt tributes to his wife, Hailey Bieber.
Returning collaborators include guitarist Mk.gee, R&B singer Dijon, rapper Lil B, and Eddie Benjamin, while new features come from Tems, Hurricane Chris, and Bakar. The comedian Druski, who appeared in skits on Swag, is absent this time.
Highlights include “Love Song,” a heartfelt track for Hailey that stands out as one of the album’s strongest, and upbeat moments like “Poppin’ My S---” and “Petting Zoo,” which nods back to Bieber’s Journals era. “Eye Candy” and “Don’t Wanna” channel Michael Jackson influences, while “Speed Demon” revives his rap-singing style.
Not every track lands — some lo-fi cuts like “Dotted Line” feel more like unfinished demos. Still, fans willing to dig through the lengthy set will find plenty to enjoy, especially Bieber’s renewed focus on love and intimacy rather than media scrutiny.
The album’s pink cover art contrasts with the black of Swag, signaling a lighter, more personal tone.
